The metrology standards serve as a precondition for import of used vehicles in Macedonia. The Bureau of Metrology (www.bom.gov.mk) is an authority at the Ministry of Economy of Macedonia in charge of the implementation of the metrology standards by the vehicles.
The Standardization Law in Macedonia (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia 54/2002) establishes a voluntary standards system based on EU standards and international criteria in science and technology. Therefore, the standards are implemented on the voluntary base and do not present a requirement for export to Macedonia. However, there are mandatory technical requirements stipulated in the Law on Product Safety (Official Gazette of the Republic of Macedonia No. 33/2006 и 63/2007), which aims to provide that the products released in circulation are safe.
